  • The .22 Creedmoor is a centerfire rifle cartridge introduced by Hornady in 2018, developed from the 6mm Creedmoor case by necking it down to accept a .22 caliber bullet. Designed with a small primer pocket, this cartridge offers improved ignition consistency and enhanced accuracy. Typically firing .224-inch bullets weighing between 75 and 90 grains, it achieves high muzzle velocities in the range of 3,300 to 3,500 feet per second, making it one of the fastest and flattest-shooting rounds in its class. Engineered for long-range performance, the .22 Creedmoor is suitable for a wide range of rifles, including both bolt-action and AR-platform configurations. Its high velocity and flat trajectory make it an ideal option for varmint and predator hunting, as well as precision target shooting and long-range competitions. Despite its relatively recent introduction, the cartridge has quickly gained traction among long-range enthusiasts seeking a versatile and accurate small-caliber round. While its performance has impressed many shooters, availability can be a limiting factor, as rifles chambered in .22 Creedmoor are not as common as those in more established calibers. Nonetheless, its rising popularity suggests that this cartridge will continue to earn a place in the long-range shooting community.
