- The 375 Remington Ultra Magnum (375 RUM) is a high-powered rifle cartridge developed by Remington Arms Company. It was introduced in 2002 and is based on a necked-down and blown-out version of the 404 Jeffery case.
The cartridge features a bullet diameter of .375 inches (9.5 mm) and a case length of 2.850 inches (72.4 mm). It is designed to provide hunters and long-range shooters with a flat trajectory, high muzzle velocity, and excellent long-range accuracy.
The 375 RUM is capable of firing heavy, high-BC bullets at extremely high velocities, making it well-suited for long-range shooting and hunting large game such as elk, moose, and brown bear. However, the cartridge produces significant recoil, which can make it challenging to shoot for some shooters. It requires a rifle with a strong action and a heavy barrel to handle the high pressures generated by the cartridge.
