- The .375 SOCOM is a high-power rifle cartridge designed by Tromix in 2013 as a necked-down version of the .458 SOCOM. It was developed to provide a flatter trajectory and greater velocity while maintaining the hard-hitting performance of the SOCOM family. The cartridge is compatible with standard AR-15 lowers, requiring only a barrel swap for use. With a bullet diameter of .375 inches (9.5mm) and a case capacity of around 60 grains of water, the .375 SOCOM balances power and accuracy. It typically fires 200-300 grain bullets at velocities exceeding 2,000 fps, making it effective for hunting, tactical applications, and suppressed shooting. This cartridge is known for excellent energy transfer and deep penetration, making it suitable for big game hunting and defense applications. Its lower recoil compared to the .458 SOCOM makes it an attractive choice for shooters looking for a powerful yet manageable AR-15 caliber.
