- The .405 Win is a rimless, bottlenecked centerfire cartridge developed by Winchester in the early 1900s. It was designed to be a powerful round with the capability of taking down large game and is suitable for hunting applications.
The .405 Win has low recoil, good velocity and accuracy over long distances. Its thick case walls allow it to handle heavy charges when reloading. Additionally, its high bullet weight and flat trajectory provides impressive penetration capabilities against thick hides and boned structures.
