  • The .45 GAP (Glock Auto Pistol) cartridge was developed by Glock in the early 2000s as a compact alternative to the .45 ACP cartridge.

The .45 GAP has a bullet diameter of .451 inches (11.5 mm) and a case length of .755 inches (19.2 mm). It was designed to fit in a shorter and more compact cartridge case than the .45 ACP, which allows it to be used in smaller and more concealable handguns, particularly those made by Glock.

The .45 GAP has similar ballistics to the .45 ACP, with a typical muzzle velocity of around 850 to 1,000 feet per second (260 to 305 m/s) and a muzzle energy of around 400 to 550 foot-pounds (540 to 750 J). It is primarily used for self-defense and law enforcement applications, although it has also gained some popularity among civilian shooters for target shooting and competition.

Despite being a relatively new cartridge, the .45 GAP has gained some acceptance and popularity among law enforcement agencies, particularly those that use Glock pistols. However, it has not achieved the same level of widespread adoption as the more established .45 ACP or 9mm cartridges.
