- The .450 Rigby, also known as the .450 Nitro Express 3 1/4", is a centerfire rifle cartridge developed in the early 20th century for hunting big game in Africa and India. It was designed to provide a powerful and reliable cartridge that could take down large and dangerous animals such as elephants and Cape buffalo.
The .450 Rigby cartridge has a bullet diameter of .458 inches (11.6 mm) and a case length of 3.25 inches (83 mm).
