- The 10.75x68mm (or 10.75mm Schuler) is a large, centerfire rifle cartridge designed for hunting big game such as moose, elk, and bear. It was developed in Germany by Wilhelm Brenneke and introduced in 1920 as a high-powered alternative to existing hunting cartridges of the time. The 10.75x68mm uses a bottlenecked case with a bullet diameter of 10.9mm and an overall case length of 68mm. It typically fires a heavy, 18-gram (275-grain) bullet at a muzzle velocity of around 750 meters per second (2,460 feet per second), delivering high energy and stopping power at medium to long ranges.Despite its powerful performance, the 10.75x68mm cartridge is relatively uncommon today, and is typically only used by dedicated hunters and collectors of antique firearms. Nonetheless, it remains a capable and effective cartridge for hunting large game, particularly in areas where longer range shots may be necessary.
