- The 6.5 Grendel is a powerful yet versatile cartridge that has been gaining popularity in recent years. It was developed by Alexander Arms and is based on the .220 Russian cartridge. It has a maximum average pressure of 52,000 psi and can fit into an AR-15 with an overall length of 2.26”.The 6.5 Grendel offers shooters a wide range of bullet weights, from 95 grains to as heavy as you'd like, allowing for great accuracy at long distances while still providing low recoil. This makes it ideal for target shooting, hunting, and even predator calling. The 6.5 Grendel also has some advantages over its competitor, the 6.5 Creedmoor, which is slightly longer at 2.825” and has less velocity than the 6.5 Grendel past 1,000 yards despite having more recoil due to its heavier bullet weight options.
