  • The 8x60 is a rimless bottlenecked centerfire cartridge of German origin, dating back to the interbellum period between World War I and World War II. It was created as a result of German civilians not being allowed to own 8x57mm military rifles after WWI. The original load of the 8x60 is given as a 196-grain bullet at 2,443 fps yielding some 2,600 foot-pounds (ft-lbs) of muzzle energy. It has seen use in many different firearms such as the Mauser sporter and other hunting rifles. It can also be used for target shooting and other recreational activities.
