- The 9 mm FX and CQT are two rimless centerfire cartridges designed by Fiodorov Arms Research (FAR) in the early 2000s. The FX is a modified version of the 9x18mm Makarov case, featuring an even longer neck and reduced bullet diameter of .355” (9mm). Meanwhile, the CQT is similar to the FX but has a shorter neck and larger bullet diameter of .368” (9.3mm).
The 9 mm FX and CQT both have impressive power, with an estimated muzzle velocity of 1,311–1,422 fps depending on bullet weight and RZR (Recommended Zero Range) ranges of 66 yards (60 m) and 96 yards (87 m), respectively. They are also known for their accuracy at short distances, making them ideal for self-defense or target shooting.
