8.6 BLK

Anyone have some experience with 8,6BLK? I bought a barrel from Faxxon Firearms in 1:3 twist 16 inch. have loaded subs and very satisfied with my loads. I use N120 and have about 45% fill. Anyone have som ideas to other powders from Vihtavuori that will have better filling rate and be subs?

Vihtavuori N32C Tin Star or ReloadSwiss RS 14] or Hodgdon TrailBoss

Use of .50 military pulled bullets

Is anyone using military bullets like AP, APIT, Incidiary, tracer, for loads in the .510 Whisper?

I have never personally used these bullets, but I need .50 caliber powder in 50 kg drums in bulk.

Bullet name

On the new update on sub sonic load the ammo displayed looks like 300 blk with a bullet I know as the "Rex" made by Makers. This bullet in 200 and 220 shoot great and really expand at sub speeds. I cannot find anything on this bullet "Rex". Does someone know it with another name?

Sorry - there is no load data for these bullets as we lack the technical specifications. Feel free to request the bullet if you have the necessary details here: https://www.xxlreloading.com/request-new-bullet-to-be-added

.300 BLK 185gr

Hi everybody,

I’m playing with some loads I’m using in a bolt gun .300 blackout. I tried the Hornady Sub-X 190gr and am unimpressed at the subsonic velocities I’m aiming for. I’ve got an extra box of 185 Berger JUGs and wondering if anyone has experience with those.

Thanks folks

Accuracy. Using a bolt gun. Gonna look at the mechanical variables again and try again with a little more powder. I’m using VV 110 but would like to try some trail boss.

Hodgdon Subsonic Load Data

We have a question for the community. Hodgdon has recently published subsonic load data: https://hodgdonpowderco.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/subsonic-data-final-1.pdf

The list contains the following load data: .308 Win, 190 GR Hornady Sub-X, 2.69 C.O.L.: 2.690'' - 13 GR H322 Hodgdon

The bullet is 1.3'' long. Seated depth is then 0.63''. The empty case capacity is 56 GoW, the powder bulk density is 55.8 lbs/ft3.

So the fill rate (volume taken by powder in the cartridge) for this suggested load is around 33%. Only one third of the available cartridge is taken by the powder.

HOW CAN SUCH A LOAD ENSURE CONSISTENT IGNITION BY THE PRIMER? Has someone tested this load? Any feedback in general at what minimum fill rates you start to get problems /nervous?

I used this load data this weekend out of a ruger bolt gun only made up 10 rds for trial and didn’t use any filler and all 10 fired and velocities were around 1050fps out of a 20 in barrel
