This caliber or cartridge ranking illustrates how a specific rifle caliber ranks amongst others in terms of its ballistic performance (E0 = bullet energy at muzzle). The figures shown are the averages resulting from load data with all suitable bullets and powders for this specific caliber. Loads rated well by our community get weighted more when calculating the averages. The performance of a specific load (specific bullet, bullet weight, powder, and powder weight) can deviate from this average. It starts with the tiny .17 HMR and ends with the "hammer" .50 BMG.

Any surprises in the ranking?

the title is incorrect. It should be cartridge NOT caliber, The terms are not interchangeable.

All Rifle calibers?? No .500 S&W mag, no .460S&W Mag etc.. would be nice to see them in this list . To see where they stack up. .500 and .460S&W are in several rifles also as well as Large revolvers

yep - will try to update the chart in due course and then add more calibers for which we yet don't have sufficient data.
