Small Rifle (SR) Primers

Small rifle primers are essential components in small-caliber rifle cartridges, ensuring reliable ignition of the gunpowder. Used in popular calibers like .223 Remington and 5.56 NATO, these primers are smaller than large rifle primers, designed for cartridges with less powder. Each small rifle primer consists of a brass cup, a sensitive primer mix, an anvil, and a foil covering. When struck by the firing pin, the primer mix is crushed against the anvil, causing a small explosion that ignites the gunpowder and propels the bullet.
